DrThompsonheadshotwebBeing as this is my first blog, I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and the type of work I am doing with Human Touch®. I’ve spent the past 30 years researching and exploring the effects of sound and low frequency vibration as a healing tool in my practice. I’ve been a musician and composer since I was 12 years old and a Chiropractic Physician since 1980. Soon after I was in practice, I began experimenting with specific frequencies to make Chiropractic adjustments with sound. My approach was to target specific vertebrae with precise tones that could resonate that bone like a wine glass. The success of this attempt set the course of my life from that time until now.

My work with sound has evolved over the decades to its present form which involves the combination of a number of sound techniques applied to the Human Touch Perfect Chair body, the nervous system and the brain. I use the Human Touch Perfect Chair® as a core component in this process and retro-fit the chair with specially designed low frequency transducers which can introduce vibration frequencies directly into the cells of the body. The sensation is like nothing you have ever experienced before – a full body cellular massage with sound vibration.

I use a number of medical monitoring devices to show me how the body is functioning and where it is imbalanced and not functioning normally. I use EEG to study the brainwaves and current state of consciousness and a system called Real-Time Heart Rate Variability (RT-HRV) to show how the master control system of the body is balanced and functioning. This master control system is called the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and includes the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nerves with nerve branches to every organ and gland in the body. The Sympathetic Nervous System is activated during the “fight / flight” response and the Parasympathetic is activated during rest, digestion and recuperation. This system should normally be in a neutral “zero stress” state called Homeostasis. Most of the patients I see are stuck in the fight/ flight mode with the Sympathetic Nervous System chronically dominant. My work involves tuning highly specific sound frequencies, delivered through the sound modified Perfect Chair, which can cause the imbalanced ANS to go into its Homeostasis point of zero stress.

Regular sessions on the Sound Perfect Chair re-educate the ANS to strengthen its Homeostasis ability which in turn rebalances all the systems in the body the ANS controls. Since the ANS controls all systems in the body, balancing this system tends to cause global body responses and the alleviation of many types of symptoms of disease.

I believe the word disease really does say it all. Homeostasis is the ultimate state of ease in the body in which all of the body’s resources are available and at maximum efficiency of its energy and balance. Chronic lack of balance in the ANS and continual loss of homeostasis equals a chronic “lack of ease” or disease and all the symptoms that begin to spin out from this condition. Once this state of imbalance at the core goes on for too long, tissue begins to break down and the body enters into a state of pathology.

I searched for over a year for the ideal type of chair in which to build my sound system into for delivering the sound frequencies to the body for my healing technique. The day I saw the Perfect Chair® I knew this was what I had been looking for.
