Human Touch® Wellness Studio designed to boost retail sales of its Perfect Chair® collection

Long Beach, CA – July 20, 2010 – Human Touch®, the U.S. market leader of innovative massage chairs, Perfect Chair® Recliners, and other wellness solutions, will be launching a new gallery and sales program in early August, called the Human Touch® Wellness Studio, enabling participating retailers to maximize sales opportunities for Human Touch’s award-winning Perfect Chair® Recliners. This fully integrated retail gallery program will be introduced during Las Vegas Market, one of the nation’s leading furnishing industry events of the year, held Aug. 2-6 at the World Market Center in Las Vegas (Showroom B-0900).

“The Human Touch® Wellness Studio creates an enticing, interactive environment whereby the Human Touch® story can be told, strengthening brand awareness and the consumer’s decision to buy,” said Andrew Cohen, President of Human Touch, LLC. “Unlike other gallery programs, a Human Touch® Wellness Studio requires little to no inventory to participate and guarantees greater profitability than the industry average.”

Human Touch’s line of Perfect Chair® Recliners includes a collection of sleek and elegantly designed relaxation chairs, incorporating zero-gravity engineering, to relieve soreness, pain and fatigue caused by earth’s constant gravitational pull on the body. Inspired by the zero-gravity chaise position developed by NASA to support astronauts during their ascent into orbit, the Perfect Chair® elevates the legs above the heart, relieving weight from the spine. Consistent with physician-recommended sitting posture, the chair’s fixed-form seating position ensures maximum ergonomic posture at all recline angles. Human Touch’s Perfect Chairs® are also recommended by Human Touch’s Wellness Council members, a group of esteemed wellness experts, including doctors of chiropractic, naturopathy physicians, massage therapists, and professional athletes.

Components of the Human Touch® Wellness Studio program include the complete collection of Human Touch® Perfect Chairs® and accessories, point of sale materials, as well as comprehensive marketing, training, and sales support for participating retailers provided by Human Touch’s dedicated sales team.

Billy Curtright, Director of Sales, Furniture and Specialty Sleep, added, “We understand the competitive landscape that today’s furniture retailers face and are excited to be able to respond to their needs by offering them a fully integrated and ROI-driven program that will allow them to maximize their sales performance.”

Dr Shawn dillBy Shawn Henry Dill, D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

If your doctor tells you that you have hypertension, you aren’t alone. Nearly 73 million adults in the United States also suffer from the condition as do two million teens and children.

So what does this mean? The term “hypertension” is medical jargon for high blood pressure. This means that the blood pressure in your arteries is elevated and therefore puts stress on your heart because it has to work harder to push blood through your body past those blockages. The harder the heart has to pump, the more likely you are to suffer from organ damage and conditions such as a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, aneurysm or renal failure.

Though it may be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of a particular case of hypertension, several factors have been associated with it, including smoking, obesity, having diabetes, taking in high levels of sodium, living a sedentary lifestyle void of physical activity, displaying a deficiency of vitamin D, consuming excess alcohol, and stress.

The good news is that it is possible to lower your blood pressure if it is higher than it should be. Though it is difficult to combat genetics or aging, both of which have been known to play a role in hypertension, several other factors are in your control. Maintaining a nutritious diet and regular exercise regimen are especially important, as are maintaining a healthy weight, reducing salt intake and reducing alcohol consumption.

It is also important to keep stress in check. A healthy balance of daily life and work can help put perspective on areas where you need to cut back or reevaluate your priorities.

Frequent and regular visits to your massage therapist may also be appropriate as you work to manage or prevent hypertension. If you’d rather manage your stress from home, consider using a Human Touch® massage chair, which provides you with the opportunity to relax your body without having to make an appointment to do so.

Massage helps minimize the physical stress we carry in our bodies. When we feel stress, our shoulder muscles tighten, jaws clench and body becomes sore, achy and uncomfortable. A proper massage—whether in person or in  a massage chair—helps to physically remove stress from our bodies. When our bodies feel healthy and rejuvenated, it is easier to clear our minds and deal with the outside forces that put that stress in our lives in the first place.

We often tend to get worked up, trying to achieve more than we can handle and helping other people before we help ourselves. But if we don’t take the time to relax, we are only hurting ourselves physically, which puts us in an even more precarious position for developing hypertension.

It may be true that 73 million adults suffer from hypertension, but you don’t have to be a statistic. Don’t simply accept the fact that you have high blood pressure … do something about it instead.

Jeff Galloway (2)By Olympian Jeff Galloway

The cooler Fall temperatures reward us for training during the Summer heat. It’s a fact that at the same effort level, you can run about a 45-60 seconds per mile faster at 60F than you could at 75F. Here are my suggestions for goals that tend to motivate the runners in my Galloway programs.

1. An endurance goal. Longer long runs tend to bestow a the greatest sense of accomplishment of any training component.  Even if you want to run faster in a given race, a longer long run will help you to your goal. Be sure to run the long runs at least 2 min/mi slower than your current race pace (3 min/mi slower for 5K/10K race pace). Gradually increase the length of the long run, every other week.  For faster recovery, use the Human Touch massage chair.  That’s what I do.

2. Set up a training program. You’ll find a series of training progams for just about any race distance in my books: TESTING YOURSELF, 5K/10K, HALF MARATHON, GALLOWAY TRAINING PROGRAMS (marathon, half, 10 mile), MARATHON.

3. Schedule some “fun races”. Long runs should only be done every other weekend. This allows for excursions to interesting events. We have a recommended list on the website.

4. Look into training groups. The Galloway groups (www.JeffGalloway.com click on “training programs”) can give you guidance on pacing based upon your current fitness level, with a supportive pace group.

5. For a speed goal, look at my books for appropriate speed workouts. The speed of the repetitions should be about 30 sec/mi faster than goal pace. Walk between the repetitions. As you increase the number of repetitions (14 x 1 mile for top performance in the marathon) you have the best chance of acheivement. Again, a session in the Human Touch massage chair can speed recovery after a workout, and can warm the muscles up before a workout.
