Human Touch Wellness Council Member Mindy Green is an Aroma-Herbalist. In this post, she shares how to make a soothing and relaxing aromatic foot bath. Mindy is a firm believer in everyday wellness and to aid in her own regimen, she uses a Human Touch massage chair at home along with all-natural, organic oils.

A foot bath with essential oils is a short cut to full body relaxation with the added bonus of an aromatic bouquet of fragrance. The aromatic footbath is useful for focusing energy away from the upper body and relieving tension and stress in the head and neck, as circulation increases in the lower extremities. When you don’t have the time or inclination for a full body bath, this quick, simple and amazingly effective treatment barely disrupts your attire. This treatment provides relief from the pavement pounding most of us endure daily. Think about all your feet do and treat them to a mini spa in the comfort of your own home. It requires only a few tools and you will soon be asking yourself, “Why haven’t I done this sooner?” You really must experience it to realize the full benefits of such a simple therapy.
Begin with a basin large enough for your tootsies. Usually a plastic dish basin available at most grocery stores will suffice, but get as fancy as you’d like if it gives you the sense of greater pampering. Fill it with warm water, add up to ten drops of your chosen essential oil blend (see below) or use any single note that you find appealing. Sit back, relax and breathe in deeply to allow the aromatics to do their magic on your emotions as the water dissolves the physical stresses. It is handy to have a back up hot water source for warming foot bath if you want to indulge more than 10 minutes as the water cools. Here are a few suggestions for your soaking pleasure. Use the entire blend for one bath, or 10 drops of a single note per bath. If a cool bath is more appealing in hot weather, by all means, indulge in what feels best.
