We have been sold on the idea that getting a massage is a luxury, a way to indulge ourselves. Many believe a massage is something we should only treat ourselves to every now and again whenever we need the “pampering.”
The reality is that a massage is not a luxury. It is much more than a way to spoil ourselves. There have been many studies confirming the health benefits associated with massage therapy.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension.”
Some studies have also shown that massage can
- reduce fatigue
- decrease anxiety
- increase circulation
- enhance the immune system
- improve mood
- enhance sleep quality
Massage can help us in many ways, so get a massage regularly! If going to a spa is too costly, then invest in a massage chair. The benefits you will receive will outweigh the cost. Everybody deserves a massage every day.
