We were invited to place our chairs in the players lounge of the PGA Championship Tour at Willow Creek Golf Course the first week of September. Apparently, one of the tournament organizers sat in the HT-1650 massage chair by Human Touch at another event and was so impressed that he wanted us to put our chairs throughout the golf course. We will have one among the players, one among the volunteers, and a few more in the vendor village. We are quite excited about this exposure of these chairs. The HT-1650 is one of my personal favorites. You know, before we had our showroom, the most popular massage chair we sold was probably the HT-7120 massage chair, but since we have had actual folks in our chairs, the HT-1650 has been our top seller…without question and without a close second. I just have to learn how to golf better! I was invited to the press conference for the Tour and went golfing afterwards with the other invitees. Oh my, I have a lot of work to do. I may need to have fellow Wellness Council member, Tim Clark, give me a few tips. I would hate to have my golf skills distort, in the eyes of others, the amazing massage of the 1650!!

We will be adding 7 new Human Touch models to our website this month. They include 3 of the iJoy chairs (iJoy 130, iJoy 300, and the HT-2720) and 4 regular HT chair models (HT-5270, HT-5320, HT-103, HT-5005). We are excited to add these chairs to www.massage-chair-relief.com.

I am continually amazed at the physiological benefits gained from regular use of a massage chair. It seems that we regularly get feedback from clients about how they feel better using the chairs. Some of the feedback is surprising and, in some cases, even counter-intuitive. We have seen a few clients with diabetes notice an increase in peripheral sensation following the use of the foot and calf massage feature…which is amazing to me.

www.RunInjuryFree.com
Each year, millions of adults discover that exercise doesn’t have to hurt. I know that this runs counter to experiences in physical education classes, but with the right combination of pacing, rest breaks, muscle manipulation and warming down, workouts can be the most joyful part of the day.

In fact, the rewards of exercise can lead one to doing too much. Running, for example, delivers a series of psychological benefits that are virtually unique: a significant boost to vitality with a positive attitude being the ones most commonly praised. The after-exercise glow is such a wonderful lifestyle change that many beginners assume that going faster and farther will increase the good feelings. Unfortunately, this often leads to aches, pains, and fatigue.

Over the 35+ years that I’ve been coaching, I’ve developed a pattern of training elements that has allowed most of my individual coaching clients to enjoy the experience as they benefit from the physical and psychological enhancements from exercise.

Start slowly. Most exercisers know that they need to warm up. I have my runners walk for 3-5 minutes, and then alternate a 20-60 second run with a 60 second walk for 10 minutes. At that point, most can ease into the pace for that day.

Insert recovery breaks before fatigue builds up. On long runs and races, I have my runners continue to insert walk breaks, usually every 1-4 minutes, to the end of the run. This reduces fatigue, speeds recovery, and can almost eliminate injury. My surveys surprisingly show that the walk breaks allow runners to run faster. Cyclists have “gliding” breaks, and those using exercise machines can reduce the level of exertion significantly for a minute, every 3-5 minutes to achieve the same result. The continuous use of the muscle at a high level of exertion will exhaust muscle fibers and break them down quicker.

Pacing. Most exercisers can work too hard in the beginning of a workout without realizing that it is too hard. It is always better to start more slowly. Whatever is saved during the first 10 minutes can be used during the important mid-workout exertion. Even better, if you ease into your workout, you can feel good to the end.

Warm down gently. Muscles recover better if they are not pushed harder and harder to the very end. By easing off during the last 10 minutes, damage can be significantly reduced, and blood flow can help to remove some of the waste products that accumulated during the workout. Continuing to walk after a run, for example, will allow the muscles to help pump blood back to the heart. Standing around after a good workout can put a lot of stress on the cardiovascular system. Keep moving!

Manipulate the muscles. I melt into my Human Touch massage chair after I’ve had my post workout warmdown. Tired muscles have always felt better after a session, and especially the next day.

Note: Over a million runners and walkers have attended Jeff Galloway clinics, running schools, wonderful retreats, training programs or read his books. To subscribe to his free newsletter and/or blog, visit www.JeffGalloway.com

Whether a persistent nemesis like your freeloading brother-in-law, or a surprise - yet unwelcomed - visitor like a process server, back pain is never something you want to stick around. Unfortunately, today’s lifestyles practically invite back pain for prolonged stays.

Of course, guys who wield sledgehammers for a living have to worry about injured backs. But more and more, desk jockeys are realizing the agony of back pain. Hours of hunching over a computer keyboard while sitting in a office chair, followed by vigorous exercise to work off the stress it causes, is the perfect recipe for a sore back. Making even the simplest tasks huge, painful challenges.

But there is hope. Quite luxurious, indulgent and stylish hope, in fact. Turns out regular massage from Human Touch massage chairs can help prevent back pain from rearing its ugly head and relieve it more quickly once it shows up.

Human Touch massage chairs ease pain and hasten recovery by gently and gradually stretching and manipulating muscles, joints and ligaments, which improves flow of oxygen-rich blood. Frequent massage also prompts the body to release endorphins - the body’s natural painkiller - to relieve muscle tension and stiffness. The results? Faster recovery, improved range of motion and simply feeling better.

There may be no cure for long hours at the office (except maybe hitting the Lotto), but there is way to prevent and heal back pain. Regular massage from Human Touch massage chairs can help you feel better, play better and perform better.

I am here at “The Breakers Hotel and Resort” in elegant Palm Beach, FL, where the annual “Florida Chiropractic Society” meeting is being held. Thirty or so of the more than three hundred chiropractors in attendance have at one time or another worked for me. It is wonderful to see how many of them are using Human Touch Massage Chairs; HT-125’s, 135’s, 136’s and now even the HT-7120’s and HT-7450’s as a therapeutic tool.Axial traction provided by any of the afore mentioned models is as good, and in most cases better, than any roller table on the market today. Furthermore, I don’t know of any roller table that also provides an extension/distraction mode as well.

If you are a practicing chiropractor, you would be well advised to purchase and use Human Touch massage chairs in your office as a therapeutic tool!

We have been busy this summer attending golf tournaments, demonstrating the Human Touch massage chairs to golfers, young and old. We are quite impressed with the increased flexibility that golfers feel after even just one 15 minute session in a massage chair.

In September, we will be showcasing the chairs at the PGA Championship Tour at Willow Creek Country Club, here in Salt Lake City. We went to the Press Conference yesterday, had a fantastic breakfast, and were introduced to the tournament director. Then we went golfing, which, I might add, was quite a humbling experience for me (I think I deserve to get to know Tim Clark, PGA professional and one of my fellow Human Touch Wellness Council members, for some tips to prevent complete and utter humiliation next time!). One of our HT-1650 massage chairs will be in the player’s lounge for their enjoyment during the tournament. We will also be one of 7 vendors at the 18th hole for visitors and players alike to peruse and try these beautiful massage chairs.

We are also working on an endorsement/advertising arrangement with Real Golf Radio, hosted by Brian Taylor and Bob Casper. They broadcast from right here in Utah, and have an estimated audience of 200,000 golfers across the nation and in the armed forces overseas. We are looking forward to this relationship. Bob and Brian are great fellows and are fast becoming great friends to Massage Chair Relief.

Our showroom continues to grow. We boast the largest massage chair showroom in the state of Utah, if not most of the surrounding states as well. Of course, the vast majority of massage chairs in our showroom are Human Touch massage chairs. They outsell the other manufacturers by far, from our experience. We will be introducing the iJoy and Perfect Chair in August to our showroom, bringing our total number of display massage chairs to 13.

Looking forward to an exciting August!!

Good for your health, short game
and that big presentation at work

As you’re lying there face down listening to the panpipes of the Peruvian rainforest CD with only a skimpy towel between you and the massage therapist whose elbow is nearly piercing your left ventricle, you think to yourself - is this really worth it? Turns out, the answer is yes.

Massage is proven to provide several measurable benefits. And with Human Touch massage chairs, you can enjoy all the advantages of massage - and none of negatives of the day spa - wherever and whenever you desire.

By replicating the hands and techniques of highly trained massage therapists Humantouch massage chairs deliver serious benefits that can help you feel better, play better and perform better.

The health benefits of regular massage are many. Lowering blood pressure, for instance, can help reduce the chance of stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure. Improving blood circulation increases the delivery of vital oxygen and nutrients to muscles and joints. And enhancing lymph flow stimulates the body to remove potentially damaging waste products and maintain its natural defense system.

Physically, frequent massage from high-end massage chairs is an integral part of many physical rehabilitation programs and chiropractic treatment plans. Human Touch massage chairs have proven to relieve back pain and sore muscles throughout the body, and are beneficial for alleviating chronic conditions, including arthritis and bursitis.

Equally important, Human Touch massage chairs can help improve mental state. Regular massage relaxes the body and mind, and releases endorphins, which relieves stress, increases relaxation and improves mood. And with reduced stress and tension comes deeper, more restorative sleep that makes the mind sharper at work and play.

Whether you’re playing 18 holes, climbing the corporate ladder or shuttling the kids to lacrosse, Humantouch makes it easy to enjoy the many benefits of massage at home or at work on your schedule. So you can get all the healthy physical and psychological advantages of regular massage, without the increasing costs, smelly oils and sharp elbows at the day spa.

Well, July has been a month where recovery was the goal - but not entirely the reality. The thing about really long endurance races like Primal Quest, where you spend days pushing it to your physical limits, is that they deplete you on so many levels. There are so many systems in the body - cardiovascular system, musculo-skeleton system, endocrine system - and they all work together and can all be taxed by extreme stress, be it physical, emotional or mental. Primal Quest was kind of a mixture of all of the above. I had a lot of long sleeps after PQ, but seemed to feel more and more tired. My team was registered to race in the Gorge Games in Hood River Oregon, just two weeks after Primal Quest ended. It was a spectacularly beautiful 24 hour adventure race, involving paddling, trekking and mountain biking in some very beautiful wilderness. Unfortunately, the race felt like day 10 of Primal Quest, and it took a lot of energy to get through it. The amazing thing about the human body is that it can somehow persevere beyond what the mind thinks capable. However, the mind seems to have a bit of a scorecard, as far as sleep and nutrition are concerned! In any case, ever since the Gorge Games, I have needed to catch up on a lot of sleep, and I have had incredible cravings for things like cantelope melon, bing cherries, sushi and miso soup.

Now that these two adventure races are over, I have been re-directing my training to be a bit more triathlon-specific. Ironman Hawaii is the next big race on my calendar, and I want to give this a solid effort. I have been getting in the pool a lot more, and am riding my road bike on the weekends instead of my mountain bike.

As I am still recovering from my long adventure races, I have to be very careful to listen to my body. Some days, I have surprisingly strong workouts and feel like I have extra blood coursing through my veins. On other days, however, I feel quite tired and end up sleeping almost 10 hours.

On the work front, I have been very busy with travel. I am currently on my fifth business trip in 3 months. I work for an alternative energy startup company, which is very exciting and sometimes quite demanding. One always feels the temptation to work more and do less of other things. I’ve learned through other demanding jobs that this rarely ends up as a sustainable strategy, so I’ve actually made more of an attempt to put healthy boundaries around my work. I believe that the combination of sport, rest and a healthy social network do much more to fuel a successful career than does the martyr approach. In any case, the result is that I feel more motivated and excited by my job.

I am looking forward to the month of August, where I can finally get into a zone with training and perhaps actually spend a few weekends in the Bay area, instead of traveling all over for work and races. I’ve definitely got some solitary nights of movies in my massage chair planned, that’s for sure!!

I am excited about the remaining three months of the season. This week I am starting a five week stretch with the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Last year I finished sixth at this event, so I am hoping that I can get some momentum heading into the PGA Championship and the PGA Tour Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs. Physically, I feel very good. Occasionally this season I have experienced some slight pain in my neck area, but nothing overbearing.

In addition to the therapy I receive during events, my Human Touch massage chair has been very beneficial in maintaining my body while at home. In the past I would get very stiff during my off-weeks without the help of the Tour’s physical therapy staff. This year, my massage chair allows me to remain loose while watching television!

Hopefully, I will have some good golf to report in the next few weeks—I like the upcoming events, courses and I feel really good.
